All Members of the Society, whether past or present, are requested to contribute to the Register and Database, by reporting details of any English Civil War Monuments, Ornaments or Inscriptions in their local area (or in any other area) of which they are aware to the Society. The types of submissions that will be accepted for inclusion in the Register are not closed: if you know of or are aware of any Battlefield Monument, Funeral Monument, Funereal Inscription, Ornament, Dedication or Inscription (such as a dedication or inscription on a row of houses) or any other type of English Civil War monument, ornament or inscription located in your local or parish church, your local area, town, city or elsewhere which indicates that its owner, creator or its subject matter participated in, was used in, fought for or served either King Charles the First or the Parliament during the English Civil Wars 1642-1651 in any military, naval, maritime, diplomatic governmental or other capacity, then the Society wishes to hear from you about it. No restriction applies as to the age, physical condition or location of the monument, ornament or inscription.
Further, if you are aware of any English Civil War monument, ornament or inscription that might be of interest to the Society located either in the United Kingdom or elsewhere in the world, then the Society invites you to inform the Society of it.
Ideally submissions or contributions for inclusion in the Register or Database will take the form of a photograph (digital or otherwise) of the Monument, Ornament or Inscription, a transcription of any text, the location of the item (stated as precisely as possible) and the date upon which it was observed or photographed. Where no photograph is available or submitted, your comment as to the present physical condition of the monument, ornament or inscription should also be provided.
The Society proposes to publish its findings and details of the collective entries included in the Register and Database. All submissions or photographs contributed to the Register and Database which are published will be acknowledged and/or photographic credits will be given at that time.
Submissions for incorporation or inclusion in to the Register and Database should be sent to:
