At Blenheim 2004
Each year the Pike and Shot Society or its members participate in a variety of events designed to promote the organization to historians, wargamers, other hobbyists and the general public. Given the varied and immense talent of our membership, such events can be eye-opening affairs more colour and glitz this side of a Napoleonic dress ball.
So it was several years ago at the Colours 2004 Convention, held 11 - 12 September 2004 in Newbury, Berkshire, and sponsored by the Newbury and Reading Wargames Society. The Pike and Shot Society Contribution was a massive recreation of the battle of Blenheim (1704), all in 15 mm and with all the pageantry one would expect from a clash of arms out of the War of Spanish Succession.
The winners were neither French nor Allied, but the many fans who stopped by to partake of the festivities. Enjoy!
