Memorandum.Ru Fascinating site containing every uniform and flag plate from Viskavatov's famous multi-volume tome on the Russian army. All text in Russian.

HMGS East Founding and senior chapter of US society promoting historical miniature wargaming as an adult hobby and a valid form of education. Hosts the famous Historicon convention every July.

Lace Wars Yahoo Group Which also includes both the Great Northern War and the War of Spanish Succession.

Renaissance Wargames Society Formerly the United States Pike and Shot Federation, this American group is dedicated to miniature gaming in the age of Pike and Shot. The Society publishes the magazine "The Reiter."

The Society of Ancients A "sister" organisation to the Pike and Shot Society covering from the biblical period through to early medieval, well worth a look.

Theatrum Europaeum The 17th century German newsbook Theetrum Europaeum scanned and put online by the University of Augsburg. The text (in gothic German script, if you can read that) contains a lot of information of a military nature. There are also many wonderful engravings of battles, sieges, etc.

Western Martial Arts Illustrated An online subscription based magazine covering such diverse topics as drilling with the halbred or defending yourself with a 16th Century side sword.

School of the Sword An organisation that teaches the art of Renaissance dueling.

Der Weiß Kunig The is a 16th century biography of Emperor Maximilian I, profusely illustrated with woodblock engravings by some of the finest engravers working in Germany at the time. Many of these illustrations show battles and contain much interesting military detail.

British Civil Wars Regimental Wiki This is a self-contained Wiki aiming to gather information and facilitate research on all British and Irish regiments of the English Civil war period, from the First Bishops’ War of 1639 to the Restoration in 1660. Good stuff and highly recommended.

Edgehill Battlefield Very nice and new site on the famous engagement, with lots of information. Highly recommended.

Dutch Republic Site Dedicated to the History of the Dutch Republic it contains some good military links.

De Re Militari: The Society for Medieval Military History A society run by professional academic historians who have an interest in medieval warfare. They publish annually ‘The Journal of Medieval Military History’, a hardback collection of articles on medieval warfare. Membership is open to all and their website is a goldmine of information and links.

Seven Years War Association A US -based organisation covering the mid-18 th century and publishing a respected journal containing high quality articles.

Society of Army Historical Research Academic journal dedicated to the research of the British Army. If often carries articles relevant to the Society’s interest.

Arms and Armour Society Dedicated to the study of arms and armour from earliest times. Publishes a journal twice a year.

The Association for Renaissance Martial Arts The leading resource for historical fencing and Medieval and Renaissance combat skills

The Military History Society of Ireland They publish an excellent academic journal called 'The Irish Sword' that usually contains many interesting articles relating to the Early Modern period.

Danish Military History Site dedicated to Danish military history with good information in English on conflicts in the Society’s period.

Osaka Castle Screen A zoomable image of the screen that allows you to examine it in great detail.

Naseby Official site of the battlefield project, and very well done!

Digitales Archiv Marburg Click on Kriegskarten for a huge number of digitised 17th & 18th century battle maps.

The Company of Saynte George A high-quality Swiss based re-enactment group recreating the late 15th century. Their downloadable journal 'Dragons' has some very interesting articles.

British Regimental Colonels A listing of all British regiments that were identified by their colonels' names, alphabetized.

Xenophen EMWS Website Early Modern Warfare Society, sparse but some fascinating articles.

Wreck Investigation and Kalmar Lans Museum Both connected with the archaeological investigation of the late 17th century Swedish warship Kronan that was lost during the battle of Oland in 1676.

Society for the Study of the Crusades and the Latin Near East A bit out of period, but occasionally with an article of interest to the membership.

LRT Publications New French firm publishing full color, well illustrated books on soldiers of the past, the first covering French armies of the Thirty Years War.

British Civil Wars Site dealing with the British Civil Wars, Commonwealth and Protectorate era (1638-60), very detailed and quite well done.

Catalan Stands Alone Site promoting upcoming, free historical resources (uniforms, OBs, etc) covering the Catalan particpation in the War of the Spanish Succession.
